INTRODUCTION

As a government-industry platform, MARCOP adopts mechanisation and automation technologies to explore, screen, design and implement solutions for improving the productivity of the Malaysian oil palm plantation industry and reducing the dependence on human labour. MARCOP is funded by a matching grant from the Malaysian Government and the oil palm industry in Malaysia. The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is appointed by MARCOP as the Secretariat to manage the MARCOP fund application and approval process.

OBJECTIVES

  • To explore mechanisation and automation technologies for oil palm plantations towards increasing productivity, specifically focus on the operation of harvesting fresh fruit bunches (FFB), and reduce dependence on oil palm harvesters.
  • To provide technology development fund for eligible applicants to develop cost-effective and versatile FFB harvesting technologies to efficiently harvest FFB.
